We know the idea of the cloud can be a bit intimidating sometimes. The Unifi cloud implements strict industry precautions against security, data recovery, and disaster avoidance so your data is safe and reliable!

Where is your cloud located?
Our primary Unifi cloud is hosted in Switch Communications' NAP-7 facility in Las Vegas, NV.
Do you have any other clouds across the globe?
Yes, we employ another cloud stack in Hong Kong for increased performance in the Pacific Asian regions.

We have plans to expand our cloud to other parts of the world as global demand requires.
How do I make periodic backups of my files?
We can provide you with monthly backups of your entire library through an FTP free of charge!
What if I need to restore my entire library to a previous date?
No worries, we have backups for this reason! Just contact us and we will be happy to help you recover your data.
Can you bring a cloud online in a new region just for me?
We sure can. We have the ability to deploy clouds to various regions of the world within 48 hours. Contact us for more details.
Do you own my files if I cancel my service?
Absolutely not, your data is just that, YOUR data! We may keep backups for a certain amount of time after you cancel your service in case you miss us and want to come back!

Physical Infrastructure

  • Unifi Cloud VMWare cluster is hosted in Switch Communications' NAP-7 facility: Super Nap
  • Facility has armed security and requires Switch-issued identification and biometric ID to enter.
  • Clean power and air with provision to operate for up to 2 weeks without grid power or refuel.
  • Redundant connections to main backbone providers including UUNET, Level 3, etc. (50 in total)
  • Facility is designed to survive a large car bomb without loss of service.

Disaster Recovery

  • Full VMware cluster with capacity to lose any host in cluster without any degradation in service.
  • Full image backups of all servers at least nightly. Nightly backups are kept for at least 60 days.
  • Backups are encrypted and copied off-site in case of site loss.
  • All server hardware and software are the property of INVIEW labs. We are not reselling EC3 or Rackspace virtual machines. Any outage will be in a system which we directly control and can immediately fix.
  • 4-hour hardware replacement agreements with vendors on all critical systems.
  • Firewalls, switches, and all boundary gear are doubled – no single point of failure.

Internet Facing Attack Surface

  • All communications between Unifi clients and the server stack are SSL encrypted.
  • Unifi server network is segmented from all other activities. The only traffic which may enter it is that from Unifi clients.
  • Using SonicWall NSA 4600 firewalls with IPS subscription. Signatures are regularly updated and stateful packet inspection is enabled.
  • All traffic passing through firewalls is inspected for virus and malware infections.
  • Geo-IP filtering is currently enabled disallowing all traffic from high-risk areas of the globe.
  • Active virus scans of all servers nightly.
  • Frequent and monitored patching of servers.
  • Currently evaluating serveral logging systems such as AlienVault for deployment.
  • Currently evaluating several security scanning solutions such as Qualys.
